Welcome to the Lancaster school of Irish dance. The Lancaster School has been instructing children and adults in traditional Irish dance for over twenty years. We are Southwestern Ontario's oldest established residential school. The school is currently operating at our studio: 432 Waterloo St London, Ontario The school is registered with An Coimisuin Le Rince Gaelacha in Dublin Ireland as well as the I.D.T.A.C. and the I.D.T.A.N.A - its Canadian and North American counterparts.
The School's mandate is to preserve traditional Irish dance through instruction to children and adults.
Public performance is a mainstay at the school. The Lancaster School of Irish Dance performs throughout the year at concerts and festivals all over Ontario. We strive to promote Irish Culture through the beauty of dance. The dancers are brought together by a love for this form of Irish cultural expression and the enjoyment they get from sharing it with others. We perform traditional Irish dancing, ceili, and modern Irish choreography.
We also compete across the World and have won numerous medals and trophies for their solo and group dances. We are very proud to boast that our students are Canadian, National and World Qualifiers as well as Canadian and European Champions. All students of registered teachers are eligible to enter competitions. All dancers have a chance to compete and win at their current level as competition is broken into categories based on age and ability.
Although Kim and Erin encourage competition, it is not compulsory for any dancer to compete.
The school hosts its own school competition - known as a feis - each year.
When you enroll your child at the Lancaster School he or she will experience strong technical classes in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Dance helps to develop a strong sense of discipline, self-motivation, and determination.
Girls and boys are welcome, ages 3 and up, beginner to advanced at any time of the year. The Lancaster School offers a twelve month Irish dance program running from September - August.
I hope I have provided all the information you may need if you are considering Irish dance as a hobby for yourself or your child.
